About The Event

3D Printing for Kids and Teens

In this hands-on class, kids will design & 3D Print their favorite characters, Fidget Spinners, or anything else that they can imagine and design. They will learn 3D Printing and CAD software as they work both individually and in teams.

Our goal is to introduce them to the world of manufacturing while letting them have a blast. We foster imagination and creativity in this awesome class.

Why is 3D Printing a Great Skill to Learn?

Manufacturing will always exist. It will definitely go through changes but understanding how to use CAD software and 3D printers will help kids understand the process and tools used. Plus, it’s just really, really cool.

Teamwork, Problem Solving, and Critical Thinking

Unless requested otherwise, students are paired into Design teams. There is an initial lesson on how to use the CAD software. Afterwards, students are encouraged to use their own creativity and problem solving to create their own design and creations. When they run in to obstacles with their design or the CAD projects, they must first work with their teammates to work through the problem before coming to the instructor.

This builds Teamwork, Problem Solving, and Critical Thinking. Regardless of your child’s future career they’ll need these skills.

Is your kid ready for 3D Printing?

3D Printing for Kids and Teens has the lowest prerequisite requirements of any of our classes. Students will have a better learning experience if they can read, but our CAD software is intuitive, and the kids can remember the icons even if they can’t read.

Kids learn to code in this programming computer class. However, before the class begins please review the following basic things with your kids such as:

  • Delete
  • Copy/Paste
  • Enter
  • Save/SaveAs
  • Practice using a laptop trackpad or Mouse
  • Right/Left click
