About The Event

Kids Coding and Robotics

In this hands-on class, kids will explore a broad range of coding and robotics projects. We will begin the class using Block coding languages and end with the kids writing JavaScript.

Students will work individually and in groups to solve problems using robotics.  They will learn critical thinking and problem solving alongside fundamental coding and robotics skills.  Because we teach using our STEAM+ method, students will also learn presentation skills, communication and teamwork.

Most of our projects are developed by incorporating a different subject into the problem statement.  For instance, students will code a robot to replicate Magellan's journey around the world.  In another lesson, they will code a robot to reproduce shapes from geometry.

All materials (tablets and robots) will be supplied by CodeForce.

Teamwork, Problem Solving, and Critical Thinking

Students will work both individually and in teams. We try and mimic how real-world engineers work by allowing them to have both individual and team goals. This helps foster teamwork and communication skills. We also encourage them to try and solve a problem first, then go to their team, and then finally to their instructor when the hit a roadblock. Regardless of your child’s future career they’ll need these skills.

Is your kid ready for Coding and Robotics?

We’ve taught kids as young as 5 to code in our classes. It helps if your child can read, but if not, we have languages that we use that allow them to remember shapes and colors to represent code blocks.

Kids learn to code in this programming computer class. However, before the class begins please review the following basic things with your kids such as:

  • Delete
  • Copy/Paste
  • Enter
  • Save/Save As
  • Practice using a laptop trackpad      or Mouse
  • Right/Left click
  • Basic tablet usage.
