The makers event of the season. In this camp you will explore the virtual world of Minecraft Pi, the special edition of Minecraft made for Raspberry Pi. You will learn how to control the player, manually build with blocks and use the Python interface to manipulate the world around you.

About The Event

Let's dust off those Raspberry Pi's and get some coding and making in over the holiday break! 

For students in this class, they will learn:

  • How to access Minecraft Pi and create a new world
  • How to use the Python programming environment IDLE to connect to Minecraft Pi
  • How to use the Minecraft Python API to post text to the chat window, find the player’s coordinates, teleport and build structures
  • How to use variables to store IDs for different types of blocks
  • Experimenting with placing different types of blocks with special attributes

Required (But not included)

  • A RaspberryPI
  • Monitor
  • Keyboard

If you do not have a Pi, you can see the one we recommend here. You can also pick one up local-ish at MicroCenter in Westmont, IL.
