Makers Lab For Kids and Teens (Ages 7-14)

About The Event
Kids Makers Lab
In this project based course, kids will learn to code, learn about how computers work, and will build digital devices and handheld games using the Raspberry PI, SenseHAT, and Micro:Bits. On their first day, they will assemble their mini-computer and learn the basics of computer architecture.
The goal of this class is to familiarize kids with how computers work and how coding fits into the design and architecture of the device itself. We will build hand-held games, environmental sensors, and other really fun and cool devices.
Teamwork, Problem Solving, and Critical Thinking
Students will work both individually and in teams. We try and mimic how real-world engineers work by allowing them to have both individual and team goals. This helps foster teamwork and communication skills. We also encourage them to try and solve a problem first, then go to their team, and then finally to their instructor when the hit a roadblock. Regardless of your child’s future career they’ll need these skills.
Is your kid ready for Kids Makers Lab?
We’ve taught kids as young as 5 to code and build in our classes. It helps if your child can read, but if not, we have languages that we use that allow them to remember shapes and colors to represent code blocks.
